A MEMORIAL
PROCLAIMING MARCH 13, 2009 AS "NEW MEXICO SPEECH-LANGUAGE AND HEARING ASSOCIATION DAY" AT THE SENATE.
WHEREAS, one in ten New Mexican families are affected by a hearing, speech or language impairment disorder that, if untreated, can present significant obstacles to academic achievement, social adjustment and career advancement; and
WHEREAS, audiology and speech-language pathology services help empower individuals with communication disorders to lead independent, productive and fulfilling lives; and
WHEREAS, audiologists and speech-language pathologists work to eliminate or minimize the isolating effects of communication disorders on affected families; and
WHEREAS, audiologists and speech-language pathologists offer quality education and health care services to the people of New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, the New Mexico speech-language and hearing association is a statewide professional body of speech-language pathologists and audiologists with a mission of providing the highest quality of support services;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that March 13, 2009 be proclaimed as "New Mexico Speech-Language and Hearing Association Day" at the senate and that recognition be extended to the professional audiologists and speech-language pathologists in the state for their valuable service; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the New Mexico speech-language and hearing association.
