A MEMORIAL

PROCLAIMING FEBRUARY 2, 2009 TO BE "LAS CRUCES DAY" AT THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

     WHEREAS, Las Cruces is one of New Mexico's gems along the Rio Grande; and

     WHEREAS, Las Cruces lies under the sunny blue skies of southern New Mexico; and

     WHEREAS, Las Cruces is bordered by the purple Organ mountains and the lush, agriculture-filled Mesilla valley; and

     WHEREAS, Las Cruces is the home of the "Fighting Aggies" of New Mexico state university; and

     WHEREAS, the mission of Las Cruces is to welcome and to promote goodwill and healthy lifestyles for all that live in and visit Las Cruces; and

     WHEREAS, 2009 is the twenty-second year of "Las Cruces Day" in Santa Fe;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that February 2, 2009 be designated as "Las Cruces Day" at the New Mexico house of representatives to honor and showcase the many facets of the city of Las Cruces; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the mayor and city council of the city of Las Cruces.
