AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY FOR EMAIL DISCOVERY SOFTWARE.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of information technology for expenditure in fiscal year 2010 to acquire email discovery software, which is computer software that allows electronic data to be sought, located, secured and searched for use as evidence in a civil or criminal legal case. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2010 shall revert to the general fund.
