AN ACT
RELATING TO VICTIM'S RIGHTS; ESTABLISHING THAT FAILURE TO INFORM A VICTIM OF RIGHTS IS GROUNDS FOR A REFERRAL TO THE JUDICIAL STANDARDS COMMISSION.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. A new section of the Victims of Crime Act is enacted to read:
"[NEW MATERIAL] EFFECT OF JUDICIAL NONCOMPLIANCE.--A judge's or magistrate's failure to inform a victim of the victim's rights under the constitution of New Mexico and as required by the Victims of Crime Act shall be grounds for submission of a complaint to the judicial standards commission."
