AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO WESTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY FOR EXPANSION OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS DURING DIRE ECONOMIC TIMES; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred seventy-five thousand dollars ($275,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of western New Mexico university for expenditure in fiscal years 2009 through 2011 for expansion of education, training and workforce development programs in southwest New Mexico. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2011 shall revert to the general fund.

     Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
