AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR STATEWIDE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE EDUCATION; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 to contract with an alliance that does training and education in communities and public schools with and other agencies that identify and provide services to families dealing with the effects of domestic violence. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund. 

     Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
