AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A NEEDS ASSESSMENT OF GUARDIANSHIPS AND CONSERVATORSHIPS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal year 2010 to contract for a demonstration program in Bernalillo county that ensures the safety and well-being of the population under protection of guardianships and conservatorships by monitoring the status of wards and their guardians and conservators. The program may be used as a model for a statewide program for monitoring guardianships and conservatorships. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2010 shall revert to the general fund.
