AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY TO CREATE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF TRAFFIC LAWS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of public safety for expenditure in fiscal year 2010 to publicize and create public awareness of the requirements for drivers involved in accidents, the penalties for leaving the scene of an accident without fulfilling the necessary requirements and other related traffic laws. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2010 shall revert to the general fund.
