AN ACT
RELATING TO HEALTH CARE; ENACTING A NEW SECTION OF THE COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY REIMBURSEMENT ACT; MANDATING THE CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENT TO REIMBURSE COUNTIES FOR HEALTH CARE COSTS INCURRED BY FELONY OFFENDERS IN COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY CUSTODY.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. A new section of the County Detention Facility Reimbursement Act is enacted to read:
"[NEW MATERIAL] FELONY OFFENDERS--REIMBURSEMENT OF COUNTIES FOR HEALTH CARE.--The corrections department shall reimburse any county for the actual cost of providing health care to felony offenders during any period in which a felony offender is in the custody of that county's detention facility."
