AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF SCHOOL BUS ROUTES IN MCKINLEY COUNTY; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two million dollars ($2,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of transportation for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 to improve school bus routes off of United States highway 491 in McKinley county, including one million dollars ($1,000,000) for improved access to the Mexican Springs chapter house via Deer Springs road and one million dollars ($1,000,000) for improvements to Johnson road south of the Twin Lakes chapter house. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.

     Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
