AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR VARIOUS SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--
A. Eight million two hundred four thousand fourteen dollars ($8,204,014) is appropriated from the general fund to the aging and long-term services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 for the following purposes in the following amounts:
(1) six million eight hundred sixty-nine thousand four hundred thirty dollars ($6,869,430) to the four area agencies on aging for senior services, including adult daycare, case management, congregate meals, home-delivered meals, in-home services, transportation and senior center services throughout the six planning and service areas;
(2) six hundred twenty thousand six hundred seventy-four dollars ($620,674) for volunteer programs, including foster grandparents, senior companions and retired senior volunteers;
(3) five hundred twenty-four thousand five hundred dollars ($524,500) for information, assistance, education and respite services for caregivers and individuals with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders and other chronic illnesses or functional impairments; and
(4) one hundred eighty-nine thousand four hundred ten dollars ($189,410) for senior health promotion activities, including senior olympics.
B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
