AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE ALLIANCES FOR UNDERREPRESENTED STUDENTS PROGRAM AT NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred seventy thousand dollars ($270,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 for the alliances for underrepresented students program, to increase the numbers of bachelors of science degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines awarded to underrepresented minorities and students with disabilities. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
