AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF NEW MEXICO INSTITUTE OF MINING AND TECHNOLOGY FOR AN ORGANIZATION TO PREPARE STUDENTS FOR CAREERS IN MATHEMATICS, ENGINEERING AND THE SCIENCES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico institute of mining and technology for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 for an organization dedicated to preparing students for careers in mathematics, engineering and the sciences to provide, in partnership with the New Mexico state university center for environmental monitoring in Carlsbad, a one-week in-depth summer program in the science of energy for high school students in Southeast New Mexico. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
