AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR WATERSHED RESTORATION AND TREATMENT OF INVASIVE WOODY SPECIES IN THE CANADIAN RIVER WATERSHED.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal years 2008 and 2009 to conduct a watershed restoration project and treatment of invasive woody species in the Canadian river watershed. The Canadian river riparian restoration project shall spend at least eighty percent of the funds in on-the-ground treatments, ten percent for monitoring results and no more than ten percent for administration. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
