AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE INDIAN AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT FOR A SOVEREIGN NATION YOUTH CORPS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the Indian affairs department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to initiate a statewide pilot project for a sovereign nation service corps to provide tribal youth with the opportunity to pursue higher education. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
