AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE COMMISSION OF PUBLIC RECORDS TO PROVIDE ON-LINE CERTIFICATION TRAINING FOR INFORMATION PROFESSIONALS ON THE MANAGEMENT OF DIGITAL INFORMATION; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($125,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state commission of public records for expenditure in fiscal years 2007 and 2008 for the state records center to provide training scholarships to information professionals employed by state agencies or institutions or by local or tribal governments to receive certified on-line training on managing digital records. The state records center shall report to the legislature on the feasibility of establishing a digital information management program in New Mexico. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.

     Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
