AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR PILOT DETOXIFICATION PROGRAMS IN CERTAIN COUNTIES USING ACUPUNCTURE FOR TRADITIONALLY UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred forty thousand four hundred twenty-one dollars ($140,421) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 for six pilot detoxification programs, using acupuncture to treat substance abuse especially in traditionally underserved populations such as women and children of color, at-risk youth, low-income persons, victims of violence and those with concurrent mental health problems. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
