AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A NATIVE AMERICAN LANGUAGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO IN HONOR OF ESTHER MARTINEZ OF OHKAY OWINGEH.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million dollars ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 and subsequent fiscal years for a Native American language scholarship program in honor of Esther Martinez of Ohkay Owingeh and her dedication to the preservation of Native American languages in New Mexico. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund.
