AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO'S AFRICAN AMERICAN AND AFRICANA STUDIES PROGRAMS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred ninety thousand dollars ($190,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to hire tenure track faculty and to establish core faculty for the African American and Africana studies programs. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
