AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR ATHLETIC PROGRAMS AT INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. One million dollars ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund in the following amounts to the following institutions for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to support athletic programs:

                (1) two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) to the board of regents of New Mexico highlands university;

                (2) two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) to the board of regents of eastern New Mexico university;

                (3) two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) to the board of regents of western New Mexico university; and

                (4) two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) to the board of regents of northern New Mexico state school.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
