AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO CONTRACT FOR A FEASIBILITY STUDY OF A PERMANENT PROGRAM IN BERNALILLO COUNTY THAT MONITORS GUARDIANSHIPS AND CONSERVATORSHIPS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to contract for a study of the feasibility of a permanent program in Bernalillo county that ensures the safety and well-being of the population under the protection of guardianships and conservatorships by monitoring the status of wards and their guardians and conservators. The program may be used as a model for a statewide program within the administrative office of the courts for monitoring guardianships and conservatorships. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
