AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR EMERGENCY WINTER STORM REPAIRS IN UNION COUNTY; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million dollars ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal years 2007 and 2008 by Union county to pay for winter storm repairs, including emergency snow removal and costs of repairing roads. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.

     Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
