AN ACT
RELATING TO MARRIAGE; DEFINING MARRIAGE AS THE UNION BETWEEN ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. MARRIAGE--DEFINED.--
A. Marriage in this state shall consist only of the union between one man and one woman.
B. Any right or claim to a marriage between persons of the same sex shall not be valid, binding or enforceable in New Mexico even if the marriage or any right or claim is valid, binding or enforceable in another jurisdiction.
Section 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the provisions of this act is July 1, 2007.
