AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT TO CONDUCT A STUDY IN COOPERATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF GAME AND FISH ON THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF STATE WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREAS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the economic development department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to conduct a study in cooperation with the department of game and fish on the economic contribution of state wildlife management areas owned, leased or otherwise subject to control by the state game commission to local economies, including community land grants located adjacent to those areas; the income and expenses attributable to state wildlife management areas; and the distribution of elk hunting privileges to persons owning land adjacent to state wildlife management areas. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
