AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE AGING AND LONG-TERM SERVICES DEPARTMENT FOR SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAMS IN NEW MEXICO.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--
A. Six million eight hundred eighty thousand nine hundred twenty-six dollars ($6,880,926) is appropriated from the general fund to the aging and long-term services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 for the following purposes:
(1) five million three hundred eighteen thousand six hundred fifty-one dollars ($5,318,651) to the four area agencies on aging for senior services, including adult daycare, case management, congregate meals, home-delivered meals, in-home services, transportation and senior center services throughout the department's six planning and service areas;
(2) two hundred ninety-six thousand eight hundred twenty-six dollars ($296,826) for volunteer programs, including foster grandparents, senior companions and retired senior volunteers;
(3) two hundred eighty-six thousand thirty-six dollars ($286,036) for the senior employment program to create job opportunities for senior citizens within the aging network;
(4) five hundred thirteen thousand two hundred dollars ($513,200) for information assistance, education and respite services for caregivers and individuals with Alzheimer's disease, disorders related to Alzheimer's disease and other chronic illnesses and functional impairments;
(5) one hundred seventy-four thousand three hundred ten dollars ($174,310) for senior health promotion activities, including senior olympics;
(6) one hundred twenty-six thousand eight hundred thirty-three dollars ($126,833) for statewide legal assistance for senior citizens; and
(7) one hundred sixty-five thousand seventy dollars ($165,070) for naturally occurring retirement communities programs in Fort Sumner and De Baca and Sandoval counties.
B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
