AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR TRADITIONAL HEALTH SERVICES IN SOUTHWESTERN CIBOLA COUNTY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the Indian affairs department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 and subsequent fiscal years to use traditional health services, such as Navajo blessing way teachings, to encourage tobacco cessation among residents of southwestern Cibola county in the region near the Ramah Navajo community by strengthening cultural values and community links through demonstration, discussion and learning in classes and at school parent nights and at other community events. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund.
