47th legislature - STATE OF NEW MEXICO - second session, 2006
INTRODUCED BY
Danice Picraux
A JOINT MEMORIAL
REQUESTING A STUDY OF THE FEASIBILITY OF CREATING A COMPREHENSIVE SOCIAL SERVICE CENTER FOR FAMILY SERVICES.
WHEREAS, the children, youth and families department has entered into contracts with organizations that provide family services, including adoption services, pregnancy counseling, foster care treatment and placement, case management and family stabilization; and
WHEREAS, although those family services are often interrelated, they are often provided by separate organizations in separate locations; and
WHEREAS, the separate locations of family service providers might complicate access to family services and ultimately discourage families from using all of the family services available; and
WHEREAS, a common location for the provision of family services by organizations that enter into contracts with the children, youth and families department might improve access to and encourage greater use of family services by families throughout the state;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the children, youth and families department be requested to conduct a study to examine the feasibility of creating a comprehensive social service center, from which different organizations that enter into contracts with that department could provide family services; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the children, youth and families department be requested to provide a written report of its findings and recommendations to the appropriate legislative interim committee by November 2006; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the children, youth and families department be requested to file copies of that written report in duplicate with the legislative council service library; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the secretary of children, youth and families.
