HOUSE JOINT MEMORIAL 30

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

     1. On page 1, line 21, after "screening" insert ", if performed by highly trained screeners based on appropriate standardized screening guidelines," and strike the remainder of the line.

     2. On page 1, line 22, strike the line through "leading" and insert in lieu thereof "may help to detect some".

     3. On page 1, strike lines 24 and 25 and on page 2, strike line 1.

     4. On page 2, line 2, after "is" insert "not".

     5. On page 2, line 2, strike ", but" and insert in lieu thereof "and" and strike "all".

     6. On page 2, line 4, strike "starting at preschool" and insert in lieu thereof "entering school at a beginning grade".

     7. On page 2, line 17, strike "according to" and after "pediatrics" insert "and the American optometric association have recommended guidelines for vision screenings that should be studied by the department of health and the public education department when formulating their recommendation".

     8. On page 2, line 17, strike the comma at the end of the line.

     9. On page 2, strike lines 18 and 19 and strike line 20 through "children".

     10. On page 2, line 21, strike "providing" and insert in lieu thereof "improving access to appropriate".

     11. On page 2, line 22, strike the line from "supports" through "will" and insert in lieu thereof "may".

     12. On page 3, between lines 4 and 5, insert the following language:

     "BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the departments seek the input of the New Mexico optometric association, the New Mexico dental association, the New Mexico speech-language hearing association and the New Mexico pediatric society in formulating their recommendations for the study; and".
