SUMMARY
Senate Bill 479 appropriates $60.0 from the general fund to Cultural Affairs Department (DCA)
to fund conservation and preservation services for 10 paintings in the Melrose Municipal Schools
created during the Works Progress Administration.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
Senate Bill 479 appropriates $60.0 from the general fund and is recurring. Any unexpended or
unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
According to PED, the bill would provide funding for conservation and preservation services for
10 paintings in the Melrose Municipal Schools created during the Works Progress Administra-
tion. This will provide opportunities to maintain cultural traditions and provide opportunities for
statewide participation to educate school children and the general public about these paintings.
