SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 702 appropriates $306.0 from the general fund to the Eighth Judicial District Attor-
ney’s office for the purpose of operating the Taos County Family Justice Center.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $306.0 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any
unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the
general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The Taos County Family Justice Center is a “one-stop” center for providing social service, vic-
tim advocacy, family issues and other services to victims of crime and their families. The center
has historically been funded primarily by the Town of Taos and Taos County, while the district
attorney takes the lead on providing centralized services for families in Taos County.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
LFC staff estimates that the appropriation contained in this bill could support up to 5 or 6 FTE
for the Family Justice Center.
