AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A MENTORING PROGRAM FOR FOSTER CHILDREN AGED EIGHTEEN TO TWENTY-ONE YEARS OLD.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred fifty thousand dollars ($350,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to implement a mentoring program that pairs senior citizen volunteers recruited through the aging and long-term services department with foster children aged eighteen to twenty-one years old. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
