AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR SECURITY AND GLOBAL POSITIONING DEVICE INSTALLATIONS FOR STATEWIDE SCHOOL BUS SERVICES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two million four hundred thousand dollars ($2,400,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to provide security and global positioning devices on up to three thousand school buses statewide, including providing cellular services and cell phones for bus drivers. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
