AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO EXPAND MEDICAL RESIDENCY PROGRAMS IN LAS CRUCES, ROSWELL AND SANTA FE. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to fund medical residency programs in Las Cruces, Roswell and Santa Fe, to increase options and opportunities for residency placement and to enhance recruitment and retention of residents completing medical programs in surrounding communities. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
