AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR VARIOUS SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAMS STATEWIDE.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--
A. Ten million ten thousand five hundred thirty-eight dollars ($10,010,538) is appropriated from the general fund to the aging and long-term services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 in the following amounts and for the following purposes:
(1) eight million four hundred nine thousand five hundred seven dollars ($8,409,507) to the six area agencies on aging for senior services, including adult daycare, case management, congregate meals, home-delivered meals, in-home services, transportation and senior center services;
(2) six hundred thirty-one thousand five hundred thirty-four dollars ($631,534) for volunteer programs, including foster grandparents, senior companion and retired senior volunteer programs;
(3) two hundred seventy-two thousand twenty-eight dollars ($272,028) for the senior employment program to create job opportunities for senior citizens within the aging network;
(4) two hundred fifty-seven thousand five hundred twenty-two dollars ($257,522) for the provision of information, assistance, education and respite services for caregivers and for individuals with Alzheimer's disease, related disorders, other chronic illnesses or functional impairments;
(5) two hundred twenty-nine thousand fifty-five dollars ($229,055) for senior health promotion activities, including senior olympics;
(6) one hundred ten thousand eight hundred ninety-two dollars ($110,892) for statewide legal assistance for senior citizens; and
(7) one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) for naturally occurring retirement communities.
B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund. - 2 -
