AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO EXPAND NURSING PROGRAMS IN NEW MEXICO.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--
A. Two million nine hundred thousand dollars ($2,900,000) is appropriated from the general fund for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 as follows:
(1) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico to facilitate timely hiring of nursing faculty and enrollment of nursing students;
(2) six hundred thousand dollars ($600,000) to the board of regents of New Mexico state university to increase enrollment of nursing students in all nursing programs; and
(3) two million dollars ($2,000,000) to the higher education department to increase funding for faculty salaries, faculty positions and enrollment in nursing programs statewide.
B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
