A MEMORIAL

REQUESTING THAT THE ENERGY, MINERALS AND NATURAL RESOURCES DEPARTMENT STUDY THE BENEFITS OF ENERGY RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT IN OTERO MESA AND VALLE VIDAL TO THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO AND ITS RESIDENTS.

     WHEREAS, the United States needs to increase domestic energy production; and

     WHEREAS, both Otero mesa and Valle Vidal can help meet that goal if the energy resources in those areas are developed; and

     WHEREAS, the state of New Mexico will benefit from additional tax revenue generated from that development;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the energy, minerals and natural resources department be requested to study the benefits of energy resource development in Otero mesa and Valle Vidal and report its findings to the second session of the forty-seventh legislature; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the secretary of energy, minerals and natural resources.
