Mr. Speaker:

    Your BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

SENATE BILL 525, as amended

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

     1. On page 3, between lines 10 and 11, insert the following new subparagraph:

                     "(j) one representative of the food and beverage industry;".

     2. Reletter the succeeding subparagraphs accordingly.

     3. On page 5, lines 1 and 2, strike ", specifically carcinogens and neurotoxins,".

     4. On page 5, line 9, strike "monosodium glutamate and".

     5. On page 6, line 5, strike "and".

     6. On page 6, line 8, strike the period and insert in lieu thereof "; and".

     7. On page 6, between lines 8 and 9, insert a new subsection as follows:

          "N. recommend a list of food, food additives or food processes that should be considered to determine if additional labeling should be required because of harmful compounds. If the council determines additional labeling should be required, it shall recommend the appropriate labeling and recommend that such labeling be reflected in the nutrition and food safety standards.".

     8. On page 6, strike lines 19 through 25 in their entirety and on page 7, strike line 1 in its entirety.

     9. Reletter the succeeding subsection accordingly.,

and thence referred to the APPROPRIATIONS AND FINANCE COMMITTEE.
