Your PUBLIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred
SENATE BILL 233
has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:
1. On page 28, line 19, strike "fourteen" and insert in lieu thereof "thirty".
2. On page 28, line 20, after the period strike the remainder of the line, strike lines 21 and 22 in their entirety and insert in lieu thereof:
"The thirty-day time period may be extended upon a determination by the department that an extension is necessary to conduct a thorough preliminary inquiry and that the extension is not prejudicial to the best interests of the child.".
3. On page 29, line 3, strike "thirty" and insert in lieu thereof "sixty".
4. On page 29, line 5, after the period insert:
"A petition shall not be dismissed for failure to comply with the time limit set forth in this subsection, unless there is a showing of actual and substantial prejudice to the child.".
5. On page 47, line 14, after the closing bracket insert "not convicted of first degree murder and".,
and thence referred to the JUDICIARY COMMITTEE.
