AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS AND TEACHERS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2005 to provide support for professionally trained early childhood teachers and early childhood programs to ensure that children are ready for school when they enter kindergarten. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2005 shall revert to the general fund.
