AN ACT

RELATING TO GAME AND FISH; ENACTING A NEW SECTION OF CHAPTER 17, ARTICLE 3 NMSA 1978 TO PROVIDE FOR SENIOR PREFERENCE IN DRAW PROGRAMS FOR HUNTING AND FISHING LICENSES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. A new section of Chapter 17, Article 3 NMSA 1978 is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] SENIOR PREFERENCE--DRAWINGS FOR HUNTING OR FISHING LICENSES OR PERMITS.--The department of game and fish shall issue licenses or permits for hunting or fishing with preference to senior citizen applicants, persons sixty-five or older, regardless of whether more applications for public licenses or permits are received than there are licenses or permits available. The remaining available licenses or permits, if any, shall be allotted by means of a public drawing."
