PROCLAIMING JULY 1 OF EACH NEW FISCAL YEAR AS A DAY THAT THE LEGISLATURE RECOGNIZES AS "TAXPAYER THANK YOU DAY".
WHEREAS, taxpayers provide the funds that are vital for the operation and continuation of state government; and
WHEREAS, taxpayers sacrifice from their own pecuniary income to help their fellow citizens receive state-funded services; and
WHEREAS, taxpayers are rarely thanked for their service to the state of New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, it is important to recognize the contributions made by New Mexico's taxpayers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that July 1 of each new fiscal year be proclaimed as a day that the legislature recognizes as "Taxpayer Thank You Day"; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the governor and the secretary of taxation and revenue.
