SUMMARY

 

     Synopsis of Bill

 

House Joint Memorial 60 creates within the Information Technology Management Office a Center for Life Enhancement.  

 

     Significant Issues

 

The office will be charged with the responsibility to provide a new level of digital connectivity for state and local agencies to deliver services to their constituencies and that will provide users with knowledge, training, and communications systems to facilitate the work of state agencies and enhance economic development activities.

 

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

 

The additional cost of this effort, if any, has not been determined.  The CIO believes an opportunity exists to meet the objectives of the Joint Memorial within their current work plan.

 

 

ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS

 

The CIO is currently undertaking the following initiatives which are in alignment with the objectives of the Joint Memorial:

 

1.      MAGportal:  will provide access and data sharing to MAGportal users such as government agencies, constituents, business partners, and government employees.

 

2.      MAGnet:  will achieve Governor Richardson’s goal of providing a 21st century telecommunications backbone for New Mexico and will further economic development activity in rural areas of the state.  It also provides telecommunication cost savings to state agencies.

 

3.      New on-line applications:  as agencies develop new on-line applications to further

e-commerce, technology standards will be followed to ensure that the objectives of this Joint Memorial are met.
