AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE TRAINING FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHERS IN SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS AND TECHNOLOGY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred sixty thousand dollars ($260,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the commission on higher education for expenditure in fiscal year 2004 to provide a program that trains middle school teachers to improve their skills, technical knowledge and teaching techniques in science, mathematics and technology so that they are better prepared to teach students in those subjects. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2004 shall revert to the general fund.
