SENATE FLOOR AMENDMENT number ___1___ to SENATE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR SENATE PUBLIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR SENATE BILL 38 AND SENATE BILL 249

Amendment sponsored by Senator Cisco McSorley

1. On page 1, line 13, after "TRAINING" insert "; REPEALING A SECTION OF THE NMSA 1978".

2. On page 1, between lines 18 and 19, insert the following subsection to read:

"A. "age" means sixty years of age or older;".

3. Reletter the succeeding subsections accordingly.

4. On page 1, between lines 24 and 25, insert the following subsection to read:

"C. "handicapped status" means that the person has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of that person's functions, such as caring for himself, performing manual tasks, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, breathing, learning and working;".

5. Reletter the succeeding subsection accordingly.

6. On page 2, line 2, after "ancestry," insert "age, handicapped status,".

7. On page 2, line 10, after "ANCESTRY," insert "AGE, HANDICAPPED STATUS,".

8. On page 5, between lines 20 and 21, insert the following new section to read:

"Section 6. REPEAL.--Section 31-18-16.1 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1980, Chapter 36, Section 1, as amended) is repealed.".

9. Renumber the succeeding section.
