RECOGNIZING CAREER AND TECHNICAL STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS FOR THEIR SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS AND THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO.
WHEREAS, career and technical student organizations are an integral and vital component of career and technical education, reenforcing applied academics, work ethics and patriotism; and
WHEREAS, these student organizations involve approximately ten thousand students statewide in skill-based education programs, including classroom instruction, work-based learning and community service; and
WHEREAS, these student organizations provide leadership development and competitive activities at the local, state, national and international levels; and
WHEREAS, these student organizations have developed effective partnerships with businesses, trade associations and professional organizations; and
WHEREAS, these student organizations support the economy by preparing students for the workplace, improving employment opportunities for New Mexicans and building students' self-esteem and confidence; and
WHEREAS, career and technical student organizations include the business professionals of America; distributive education clubs of America; family, career and community leaders of America; future farmers of America; SkillsUSA; and the technology student association;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that recognition be extended to the career and technical student organizations of New Mexico for their service to the citizens and the the state of New Mexico; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the business professionals of America; distributive education clubs of America; family, career and community leaders of America; future farmers of America; SkillsUSA; and the technology student association.
