A MEMORIAL

HONORING SANDIA NATIONAL LABORATORIES AND LOS ALAMOS NATIONAL LABORATORY FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO HOMELAND SECURITY.



WHEREAS, New Mexico has been at the forefront of scientific endeavors for over fifty years and has achieved recognition as home of the finest multi-program scientific research laboratories in the world; and

WHEREAS, Los Alamos national laboratory and Sandia national laboratories have made an enormous contribution to the safety and security of the United States in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorism attack in New York and Washington D.C.; and

WHEREAS, the laboratories are developing new technologies and improving current technologies to meet the challenges of homeland security;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the Los Alamos national laboratory and Sandia national laboratories be honored and commended for their dedicated service to the scientific and technological communities of this state and the world and for their helping hand to the citizens of New Mexico in the complex challenges of homeland security; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Los Alamos national laboratory and Sandia national laboratories be congratulated by the senate for their over fifty years of accomplishments in the service of humanity; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the director of the Los Alamos national laboratory, the director of Sandia national laboratories, the United States department of energy and the members of the New Mexico congressional delegation.
