REQUESTING THE LEGISLATIVE FINANCE COMMITTEE AND THE NEW MEXICO FINANCE AUTHORITY TO JOINTLY STUDY CAPITAL FINANCING OPTIONS FOR CHARTER SCHOOLS.
WHEREAS, the provision of adequate infrastructure for public schools is a challenging issue for policymakers; and
WHEREAS, the unique issues related to financing the infrastructure needs of charter schools merit careful study; and
WHEREAS, given the emerging role of charter schools in New Mexico, it is necessary for the legislature to study capital financing options for charter schools;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the legislative finance committee and the New Mexico finance authority jointly study capital financing options for charter schools; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the legislative finance committee and the New Mexico finance authority report their findings and recommendations to the first session of the forty-sixth legislature; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the legislative finance committee and the New Mexico finance authority.
