RECOGNIZING OFFICER KEITH HANKER.
WHEREAS, Officer Keith Hanker of the New Mexico state police was on a traffic stop when a tractor-trailer veered onto the shoulder of the road and struck the rear of his unit, pushing it into the vehicle he had stopped; and
WHEREAS, Officer Hanker received severe head injuries and, although he is improving dramatically, walking and talking again, he will have need of extensive physical therapy; and
WHEREAS, he is serving his first year on the state police force; and
WHEREAS, other officers have said of Hanker, "he's a good person, very talkative and gives a lot of information, very helpful and caring and will help someone in need...an all-around caring kind of guy";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that state police officer Keith Hanker be recognized for his dedicated service and for the injuries he sustained in the line of duty and that wishes be conveyed for a speedy and full recovery; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to Officer Keith Hanker.
