A MEMORIAL

HONORING AMERICA'S LEADERS FOR THEIR EFFORTS IN THE WAR AGAINST TERRORISM.



WHEREAS, since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, President George W. Bush has shown leadership at home by using his office to rally the nation and to wisely counsel the American people to be patient and determined in the war against terrorism. Additionally, he has shown leadership internationally by building a broad coalition of nations to support the war against terrorism; and

WHEREAS, Secretary of State Colin Powell has led a successful effort to build a worldwide coalition to fight terrorism; and

WHEREAS, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has led a successful military effort against sponsors of terrorism abroad; and

WHEREAS, Director Tom Ridge of the office of homeland security is leading the effort to build an effective defense against the terrorist threat domestically; and

WHEREAS, the men and women of the United States army, navy, air force, marine corps and coast guard have shown great courage and sacrifice in protecting the American people from the threat of international terrorism;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that gratitude be expressed to President George W. Bush, the cabinet of the president of the United States and the men and women of the armed forces for their leadership and sacrifice; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we declare our support for this long and difficult war on terrorism; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be sent to President George W. Bush, Secretary of State Colin Powell, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Director of the Office of Homeland Security Tom Ridge.
