AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO FOR THE TAOS BRANCH COMMUNITY COLLEGE.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 for the purpose of funding the start-up costs of the Taos branch community college. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. TEMPORARY PROVISION--TERMINATION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO OFF-CAMPUS INSTRUCTION PROGRAM IN TAOS--TRANSFER OF FUNDS AND PROPERTY AUTHORIZED.--The university of New Mexico off-campus instruction program in Taos is terminated and the allocation of university property and funds to that program may be transferred to the "Taos branch community college" of the university of New Mexico, hereby created.
